Veit Corporate History
Beginning with a single truck and a handful of employees in 1928, Veit has grown to more than 500 employees and become one of the largest Specialty Contracting and Waste Management companies in the Upper Midwest. Now in its third generation, our family-owned business has a long history of customer service, innovation, and attention to detail.
Frank Veit starts Veit & Company and buys first Chevrolet truck with a dump box from Osseo Motors, now Iten Chevrolet.
Arthur Veit (Frank's son) joins the company.
Company buys a "Jiffy" dump truck from Osseo Motors.
Company buys first hydraulic dump truck from Osseo Motors.
Frank passes away and Arthur inherits the company.
Company buys first piece of excavating equipment, an HD4 Caterpillar Traxcavator from Ziegler Company.
First shop built in Brooklyn Park primarily using materials that were salvaged from a barn demolition in Hopkins, MN.
Arthur's son Vaughn goes to work for the company as a laborer.
Veit & Company moves from Brooklyn Park to new shop. Opens first landfill in Brooklyn Park, MN.
The company is first in Minnesota to own a Caterpillar D8H with a unique hydraulic ripper.
First in Minnesota to own Caterpillar's first rubber-tired loader, a 966A, which worked faster than track loaders. Buys first low-boy tractor from Twin City Mack.
First in Minnesota to own a 966C Cat articulated loader.
Vaughn is promoted to President of Veit & Company, Inc.
Arthur retires and Vaughn assumes leadership of the company.
New headquarters opens in Rogers, Minnesota
Veit Disposal Systems (VDS) begins with one truck and 30 boxes.
Equipment service building is added to the headquarters facilities in Rogers. This facility services over 2000 pieces of equipment. Veit opens landfill in Big Lake, Minnesota.
VDS Como Recycling and Transfer Facility opens.
Company Acquires Disposal Systems, Inc. of St. Paul and R & W Roll-Off Services of Carver.
Company Acquires Denny's Roll-Off Service of St. Louis Park and Adams Roll-Off of Rochester, MN. Opens landfill and expands hauling operations in Austin, MN.
Veit Disposal System expands to Duluth/Superior market. Officially forms the Veit Utility Group. Purchases Minnesota based Solidification, Inc. of Des Moines, Iowa, further expanding the company's geotechnical construction services.
Builds new 20,000 square foot state-of-the-art recycling facility in Rochester, MN. Acquires Northland Demolition of Hibbing, MN. Opens Duluth, MN landfill called Demolition Landfill Services. Purchases W.G. Jaques, Inc. of Des Moines, Iowa, further expanding the company's geotechnical construction services.
Purchases Viking Pipe Services of Bemidji, MN.
Forms Veit Foundation Group, which includes the operations of W.G. Jaques and Solidification Inc. Permits new construction and demolition debris landfill in Becker, MN.
Celebrates 75 years in business on June 18.
Opens Vonco II Construction & Demolition Debris Landfill - the largest of it type in Minnesota.
Purchases Numa downhole hammer drill, which is the only drill of its kind in MN for use in installing foundation piles in dense soils and rock.
Purchases the regions' only high reach backhoe for precise demolition at heights exceeding 120 feet.
Installs recycling equipment at Como Material Recovery Facility, significantly increasing recycling rates for construction/demo waste. Acquires Layne Minnesota, which specializes in the installation of larger diameter drilled piers/caissons for deep foundations.
Opens Milwaukee, WI office.
